Take ownership of your energy and begin to protect it. Here are a few tips to stop feeling drained:
- Identify the drainer. Be aware of situations, people, tasks, and events that tend to drain our energy. Asses where you need to make a change. Ask yourself: what tasks drain my energy? Is my work fulfilling or depleting? Do any of my friends deplete me?
- Re-energize. Define what activities energizes you and begin to do them more. It could me a nature walk, Facetiming with your best friend, or painting in the park. Make sure you're adding these activities into your daily life.
- Set healthy boundaries. We often delve into other people's issues, overextend ourselves at work, or avoiding relaxation. Ultimately, we forget to take the rest we need, but we can't do anything if we're totally drained! Set healthy boundaries such as not reponding to every message immediately, don't take calls after a certain time, prioritize downtime, and be realistic with your bandwidth.
